how to access

1. choose with your tutor the manufacturing

Before creating the files for cutting and requesting an appointment with the lab assistants, check with your tutor that the manufacturing is suitable for your needs and the material you have chosen.

2. follow the instructions to prepare the files

For each machine it is necessary to create two-dimensional files with different characteristics: you can find the links at the end of the page.

3. check the files with your tutor and save them on USB

To avoid changes and consequent waste of time for you and other students, we ask you to have your tutor check the files before making an appointment with the lab assistants.

4. make an appointment with the lab assistants

Our staff in charge of CNC machining will view your files to estimate the expected cutting times and place you in the first free slot on the calendar. Remember that our calendar must necessarily consider the staff available at the time and not just the availability of single machines.

5. show up on time for the appointment

Punctuality is necessary in order not to miss your turn. It is also essential that you only present the files approved during the appointment, because we estimated the cutting time according to them. Don’t forget to bring with you all the material you want to cut and remember that you must be present during the processing.

opening hours for users

The CNC Lab is open from Monday to Friday

from 10:30 to 13:00

from 14:30 to 17:30

safety

The machinery in the CNC Lab is CE certified and equipped with safety devices, nevertheless we ask you to be careful:

  • you may only remain in the CNC Lab for the duration of your appointment;
  • remember that you must not touch the equipment, unless you are required by the staff and only to load the materials to be cut and unload the cut pieces;
  • if you notice smoke or flames inside the laser plotters, alert the staff immediately;
  • do not get close to the blade plotter during cutting, when the bar is moving;
  • in case of sudden arrest, malfunction or dragging of parts by the blade cutter, alert the staff immediately;
  • do not get close to the hot wire plotter during cutting, when the wire is moving and heated.
