Lab VERNICIATURA

equipment

LaborA’s PAINTING Lab provides you with:

  • 1 spray glue and painting booth, with an aspiration surface of one square metre and a work surface of 100×50 cm;;
  • 2 washbasins for cleaning brushes used for applying vinyl glues and for cleaning tools used for making plaster or concrete models.

how to access

1. discuss the manufacturing methods with your tutor

Before deciding to paint model parts or make concrete or plaster casts, check with your tutor that the type of material and manufacturing are suitable for your needs.

2. free access after training

The PAINTING LAB is located in the basement of LaborA and is freely accessible to lab users who can use the painting booth after a short training on its safe use.

how to use

The spray booth is the only space in the laboratory where spray paints and spray glues can be used.

Before using the spray can, protect the booth table with recycled paper or cardboard and switch on the aspiration system with the green button on the electrical panel to the right of the booth.

You may only paint and glue sprays in the aspiration booth, you must not paint and glue your pieces by placing them on the floor even if protected by paper or cardboard: the sprays are released into the space without being sucked in and the colour and glue will dirty the floor and unprotected walls.

When you have finished using the booth, wait a few minutes to allow the aerosols to be fully suctioned before turning off the aspiration system with the red button.

Leave the workstation tidy for the next user, remove the recycled paper or cardboard from the booth table and throw it in the waste bin.

When using the washbasins, remember that they are at your disposal for cleaning brushes used for applying vinyl glue and for cleaning tools used for making plaster or concrete models.

Remember that it is forbidden to pour paints or solvents into the basins and to clean tools used for these materials.

Leave the basins clean for the next user, remove any scraps of material and throw them in the bin, rinse the basin.

useful tips

To be able to reuse the spray can, at the end of the job, turn it upside down and press down on the nozzle until only gas comes out, this prevents paint and glue from clogging the nozzle.

opening times for users

The PAINTING lab is open from Monday to Friday

From 9:30 to 13:00

From 14:00 to 18:00

safety

The spray booth has an aspiration system, which must be switched on during use and which allows most of the paint or glue that inevitably disperses beyond the workpieces to be removed, we also recommend that you protect your respiratory tract with a mask.
